Should I choose light or dark worktops? |
|
One big decision when planning a new kitchen is what colour and style worktops to have. With so many options out there, it can be hard to know which option is best for you.
Choosing between a lighter or darker worktop is often the first big decision as this will ultimately guide the colour scheme in the rest of the kitchen.

Lighting is a very important factor when considering the colour of your worktops, lighter colours and shades are better in smaller rooms or rooms with very little light as they will reflect light around the room making it seem bigger.

In big, bright spaces, darker worktops can become quite a feature, with the full beauty and detail of the surface revealing itself. These are often combined with darker coloured units to create a bold statement, with pops of colour from large picture windows and accessories.
When used in darker spaces or in smaller rooms however, because they absorb light, darker materials may make the room appear smaller.
