A Focus on Worktop Edging

When people think about their worktops they will focus on the main options, the colour, type of sink, drainer or no drainer, upstands or full height splashbacks and whether you need a window sill.

The type of edge profile is often the last consideration. This is because with the current 20mm modern trend, a bevel edge profile is the obvious choice. It gives you sleek, clean lines at the lowest price and keeps to standard manufacturing times.

More ornate edges such as ‘ogee’ or ‘bullnose’ are beautifully elegant and suit certain types of kitchen perfectly. Bear in mind though, they will increase your costs considerably as well as extend manufacturing times. Our standard turnaround times change from 7 days to 3 weeks for more complicated edge details.

Other edge profiles to consider for a semi-modern look, which fall in the mid-range price bracket, are single and double pencil edges. These soften the look of the profile with subtle, small rounded detail.

This can look particularly good when a kitchen has big sweeping curves or a lot of rounded edges throughout.
